One Show announces first round of shortlists

The One Show has released its first round of shortlists, covering the first two quarters of awards entries.

The One Show is maintaining the quarterly judging system it instituted last year, with multiple deadlines spread throughout the year so agencies can enter work while it is still current and lighten the load on jurors. The next deadline is Dec. 2, with the final deadline coming on Jan. 27. Finalists will be announced in April, with the winners announced during Creativity Week in May.

Red Lion leads Canadian agencies so far with five shortlist mentions, all of which are for its “Escape Room” Instagram campaign promoting the Toronto Silent Film Festival. It earned three spots on the Mobile shortlist, as well as one in both Branded Entertainment and Social Media.

Zulu Alpha Kilo pulled in four shortlist mentions for four separate projects. It’s the lone Canadian agency on the Cross-Platform shortlist for the Toronto cafe it helped create for Harley-Davidson, while the “Pets With Credit” and “The Surprise” spots for Interac each landed on the Film shortlist. The agency is also on the Interactive shortlist for the satirical redesign of its own website.

Rounding out the mentions for Canadian agencies are DS+P and Saatchi & Saatchi Canada  each have a single nomination in the Film category so far. DS+P’s nom is for its“Honda Kog” spoof spot, while Saatchi is on the list for the “I Am A Storyteller” video created for the Canadian Marketing Association.

In addition to the shortlists, The One Show has also announced the creation of the Social Influencer Marketing awards discipline, recognizing the promotion of a brand through a partnership with an established social media influencer. Entries in the new discipline can be submitted until the final deadline in January.
