Both parents of the latest media family have children, although they have not produced a baby of their own yet.

Professional Publishing Associates and Maclean Hunter’s New Mother Group have merged to form the new PPA Canada’s Parenting Group.

The merger late last month gives ppa 10 titles – three of them in French – to do with infants, children and the raising of them.

Beverly Topping, former president of ppa and now president and chief executive officer of the new ppa, says the fit between the two sides’ publications makes sense and puts the leading child/parent magazines under one roof.

Based in Toronto, the new ppa stable includes Great Expectations, New Mother, Mon Enfant, Your Baby and Today’s Parent.

The new firm also has sampling and informational programs and a direct marketing unit.

Last year 410,000 babies were born in Canada. DC
