Muncie out as editor

After about 25 years with Maclean Hunter – nearly 20 as editor – Colin Muncie has been fired from Marketing.

Kenneth Wright, executive publisher of the magazine, confirmed he dismissed Muncie on Sept. 23.

New editor Wayne Gooding took over the next day.

‘When you do these things [dismissals], you’ve got to make it clean-cut,’ Wright says.

Marketing is published from Toronto by mh, a media conglomerate that also publishes such consumer titles as Maclean’s, Chatelaine and Flare magazines.

Wright explained Muncie’s dismissal by saying publications ‘sometimes need a change in direction.’

He says Marketing will concentrate more on analysis under Gooding’s guidance, and have better graphics among other things.

Wright declined to be more specific than that.
