LB a shoe-in

Leo Burnett of Toronto has been awarded the u.s. advertising account for Johnston & Murphy shoes, worth between $3 million and $4 million.

Johnson & Murphy, part of genesco, is a manufacturer, retailer and wholesaler of quality men’s shoes.

It has 95 retail outlets in the u.s. and strong distribution in leading department and specialty stores.

There were no other shops in the running for the account.

Doug Grindstaff, genesco chief executive officer, was previously president of one of the agency’s clients, Procter & Gamble.

Grindstaff was impressed with Leo Burnett during his stint in Toronto and wanted to work again with Tony Houghton, agency chairman and chief creative officer, and Tony Altilia, executive vice-president, client service director.

Leo Burnett will be handling all creative and media from Toronto. PS
