Former Toronto copywriter Paul Toyne has launched a new board game in time for the Christmas season.
Jabberwocky, which Toyne describes as a ‘party game,’ began shipping out to toy stores and mass merchandisers earlier this month.
Toyne once penned ad copy for Raymond Lee & Associates, The Jerry Goodis Agency and McKim Advertising.
But he retired from the agency business in 1984 after co-creating Balderdash, which has since become one of Canada’s board game success stories with worldwide sales of nearly four million units.
Toyne has secured investment capital to produce 10,000 copies of Jabberwocky for sale during Christmas. If sales go well, he hopes toy buyers will line up to buy more at the annual Canadian Toy Fair in January.
Toyne co-created the game with twin brothers James and John Coburn.
Canada Games of Brampton, Ont. is the distributor. PA
