Southam magazine group is selling three titles from its magazine stable to members of its staff.

The magazines, Canadian Forest Industries, Canadian Wood Processor and Operations Forestieres et de Societe, are part of the wood product segment of Southam’s forestry magazines. They were published in Montreal.

Details of the sale were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close at the end of the month.

Southam will retain its four pulp and paper segment titles and will move their production and administration from Toronto to Montreal, eliminating 15 jobs in the Quebec metropolis.

Southam’s magazine office in Montreal will maintain editorial and sales resources in the city and contact with the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association.

Bill Mann, president of Southam Magazine Group, says the three titles being sold need to be produced less expensively if they are to survive. DC
