Festival Bell Just For Laughs moves into its second decade with the 11th edition this year from July 22 to Aug. 1 in Montreal.

More than 545,000 spectators will have the chance to hear some of the world’s best comics in more than 250 shows during the 11-day bilingual comedy fest.

Properties are still available, with prices ranging from $85,000 for a street stage, to $20,000 for a series of shows in an indoor venue.

Benefits offered to sponsors include on-site visibility, integration in the communications campaign, tickets and public relations activities.

Bell Canada and Air Canada return as main sponsors, and Labatt Breweries of Canada, Pepsi-Cola and Provigo (Lafleur and Primo) will share major sponsorship status.

Also, the Quebec Egg Producers have bought a show series package, and Hallmark has signed a licensing agreement with the festival to be promoted in Quebec in year one and expanding to include the rest of Canada in 1994.

NBA comes to the Dome

All the fast-paced action of the National Basketball Association comes to Toronto’s SkyDome this October when the Cleveland Cavaliers meet the Portland Trail Blazers at Toronto’s annual nba pre-season game.

Title sponsorship offers identification in all forms of advertising and banners, complimentary tickets, courtside vip seats, product displays, full-page program ads, couponing/sampling, consumer promotional tie-in and a value-added package.

The associate sponsorship includes tv and print identification, banners, complimentary tickets, product display, half-page program ad and a consumer promotion tie-in.

Cycling for a cure

The Delta/Perrier Drive for Diabetes rides into its fifth year with a cross-country fundraiser beginning May 4 in Trois Rivieres, Que. and ending in Meadowvale, Ont. on June 8.

The local stationary bike-a-thon, rollerskate-a-thon or bike ride is held in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Canada and expects to raise $500,000 to help find a cure for diabetes.

Corporations can become involved by buying custom-tailored sponsorships priced from $3,000 to $55,000.

Title sponsors are Delta Hotels & Resorts, the Perrier Group of Canada and Tunturi.

Other contributors include The Financial Post, Zurich Canada, Reebok, Neilson Cadbury, Pioneer Electronics and Sugar Twin.
