Bill Bremner, senior chairman of Vickers & Benson, died of heart failure May 3 at his home in Uxbridge, Ont. at the age of 68.

A funeral was held May 6 in Toronto.

Bremner joined v&b as account supervisor in 1964, progressing through the ranks to become president in 1971.

In 1975, the agency was purchased by a buying group led by Bremner and Terry O’Malley, now v&b chairman and chief creative director.

At that time, Bremner moved up to chairman and chief executive officer of the agency.

Bremner and O’Malley worked together for more than 30 years.

They met at MacLaren in 1960, and subsequently worked together at Foster Advertising.

In 1964, when O’Malley moved to v&b, he convinced Bremner to follow.

Although still part owner of v&b, Bremner had not been active in the agency for the past few years.

He leaves Maureen, his mate of many years; son William and daughter Marnie; four grandchildren; his brother Ron and sister Suzanne.
