Hot on the heels of a successful European launch last year, Pro Cutis of Germany has introduced a line of umbrellas, sun tents and sunscreens to the North American marketplace.

Pro Cutis sun shields are made of a material that filters out 100% of the most harmful ultra-violet rays responsible for burning the skin (uvb and UVA-2), while allowing through more than 60% of those rays responsible for tanning (UVA-1.)

According to Jim Carter, president of Calgary-based Pro Cutis North America, the revolutionary material, which was developed in Germany over a period of several years, offers users a sun protection factor (spf) of greater than 45 without the application of a chemical lotion to the skin.

Variety of colors, patterns

Pro Cutis products, which are made by Goppinger Kaliko, the vinyls division of Continental A.G. of Germany, are available in a variety of colors and patterns.

Pro Cutis North America, which acquired the North American rights to Pro Cutis products earlier this year, will market the product in conjunction with regional marketing partners, some of which have yet to be named.

The product’s initial North American launch took place in Ontario earlier this month. The distributor for Ontario is Pro Cutis Sun Production Ontario.

Last week, Pro Cutis Marketing B.C. began distributing in b.c. PA
