BBM Bureau of Measurement has handed over a $1-million initial payment to Arbitron as part of its commitment to a portable, passive audience measurement service for tv and radio.

Owen Charlebois, bbm president and chief executive officer, presented the $1-million cheque to Abitron Executive Vice-President Marshal Snyder at the company’s Maryland headquarters in mid-May.

The passive meter joint venture calls for Canadian additional field trials/beta testing this summer and next; a parallel test in the fall of 1994; and implementation in the country’s three top markets in the spring of 1995. DC
