General Motors of Canada has signed three corporate partners to its GM Card credit card program, launched earlier this spring.

The partners are: Avis Rent A Car, Delta Hotels & Resorts and P. Lawson Travel.

Currently, GM Card users receive a rebate of 5% of the value of their purchases to a maximum of $500 a year and $3,500 over seven years.

Consumers who spend money on the card at one of the three partners will receive an additional 5% rebate for a total rebate of 10% of the money spent.

(Although there is a maximum yearly rebate of $500 based on the card’s basic 5% rebate offer, there is no limit on the amount of rebate money that can be accumulated based on the partner companies’ additional 5% rebate offering.)

Stew Low, gm’s manager of public relations, says consumer response to the new card has been better than expected.

As proof, Low says gm mailed out seven million plus brochures during the last 10 days of May and has already received 500,000 applications in response.

‘We’re moving quickly,’ he says. ‘We already have 137,000 cards on the street.’

gm is hoping for additional partners, including an oil-and-gas partner and a major retailer PA
