B.C.’s Okanagan Cider Company is wooing Ontario beer and cooler consumers with the launch of three products.

The company is touting its Genuine Dry Cider, Peach Cider and Appleberry Cider as the first ‘premium alcoholic cider beverages’ available in the province.

‘[We) are entering a very competitive market,’ owner Anthony von Mandl says. ‘However, our research shows that the Ontario consumer is looking for a real alternative.’

Okanagan Cider is dryer and lighter than its British, French and Quebecois conterparts.

The company, founded in 1981, also introduced the world’s first flavored ciders, and has since experienced a 45% growth in market share in b.c., where cider is a main-stream beverage.

The three flavors are now available at most lcbo stores throughout the province in four packs for $7.45 each.
