Gary Brandes rejoins D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles this week as senior vice-president, co-managing director, responsible for managing the account group.
Brandes was first with the agency as vice-president, client service from 1977-81.
He had been president of Franklin Dallas Advertising of Toronto since February of this year.
He was on the client side of the business with Colgate-Palmolive and Canada Vinegar before switching to the agency side and dmb&b 15 years ago.
Brandes left dmb&b to become executive vice-president of Campbell Ewald, and, subsequently, director of client services at Burghardt Wolowich Crunkhorn Kibble of Toronto for four years before joining Franklin Dallas.
In his new job, Brandes assumes the title vacated by Barry Jones, who left Toronto in September to join the agency’s Hong Kong office. PS
Brandes shares the co-managing director role with Dennis Barham, who is also senior vice-president, executive creative director.
At Franklin Dallas, Peter Holmes, vice-president and creative director, says he is looking for a replacement for Brandes and hopes to have the post filled early in the new year.
