PepsiCo gets media group

Mckim Media Group of Toronto has formed the PepsiCo Communications Group, a separate division to handle tv time-buying for PepsiCo companies Hostess Frito-Lay, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pepsi-Cola Canada and Pizza Hut.

McKim was awarded Pepsi-Co’s consolidated account estimated at $50 million in March of this year.

The new division will be managed by David Stanger, McKim’s Toronto media director, with a staff of eight.

U.S. client ups Canadian profile

Bernhardt Furniture of Lenoir, n.c., plans to increase advertising support for its Canadian dealers in the new year.

Although Bernhardt has done some co-op advertising with dealers, starting in February it has scheduled a series of stand-alone image ads in Canadian House & Home magazine.

The upscale furniture maker, established in 1889, has seven Canadian locations to support. The operations are split between store locations, where a dealer has devoted the entire outlet to Bernhardt, and galleries, where the dealer has devoted a substantial part of the store to the brand.

N.A. account for Roche

Ziebart, of Troy, Mich., has chosen Geoffrey B. Roche & Partners Advertising of Toronto to handle creative for the North American launch of a new car care product in the new year.

This is the first u.s.-based business for the Toronto shop, which won the assignment in a shootout with Ziebart’s incumbent u.s. agency.

A multimillion-dollar tv campaign is scheduled to run primarily in the u.s. because of the size of Ziebart’s distribution network there.

There will be some support from other media such as radio.
