Sega signs Alomar

Baseball all-star Roberto Alomar has signed with Sega of Canada to promote its new video game line, Sega Sports.

World Series Baseball for Sega Genesis was due for release at the end of last month.

Alomar, a member of the World Series Champions, the Toronto Blue Jays, joins other sports celebrities in the Sega Sports lineup, including the National Football League’s Joe Montana, and former world heavyweight boxing champs Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano.

For some time, Alomar has been associated with McCain’s Foods of Florenceville, n.b., endorsing its fruit drinks.

McCain’s pitches Expos man

Mccain’s Foods has signed Montreal Expos pitcher Denis Boucher to endorse its juices and punches in Quebec and other French-speaking markets.

Boucher, a 25-year old native of Lachine, Que., is the latest Quebecois sports figure McCain’s, of Florenceville, n.b., has signed.

Skier Lucie LaRoche and speed skater Gaetan Boucher (no relation to Denis Boucher) have also endorsed McCain’s products.

Scoop Fredstrom, a spokesman for McCain’s, says the left-handed pitcher appears in new 30-second tv spot featuring Boucher playing baseball with children and telling them about the ‘winning’ products put out by McCain’s.
