toronto’s Citytv and a u.s. company have signed a deal giving Americans cd-rom and interactive access to Citytv-produced movies, entertainment and fashion programming.

Unapix Entertainment, in Greenwich, Conn., is City’s partner in City Online Interactive Services. The first part of the deal sees 20,000 hours of Citytv-produced programming recorded on cd-rom disks. In 1996, the venture will be expanded to allow u.s. viewers to get the programs by computer modem.

It is expected the service will eventually carry advertising.
