The head of Ogilvy & Mather Canada has been named president of o&m, New York and a member of O&M Worldwide’s board of directors.
Tro Piliguian, who will also keep his position as chairman and chief executive officer of O&M Canada, succeeds Shelly Lazarus.
Lazurus becomes president of o&m’s North American operation.
Brian Fetherstonhaugh, president of O&M Direct, will take over Piliguian’s day-to-day duties in Toronto with the title of president, o&m, Toronto.
Piliguian spent 16 years in tv broadcast and production in Montreal before becoming partner, vice-president and general manager of Montreal agency St. Alexander Advertising Academy in 1981.
In 1988, o&m bought a minority interest in the firm, forming Academy-Ogilvy Communications.
Piliguian, still partner, president and ceo of Academy, was named chairman of O&M Canada in 1990.
Fetherstonhaugh joined o&m in 1983 after four years as brand manager at Procter & Gamble.
He was appointed account director on American Express for o&m and O&M Direct after three years with the agency.
In 1988, he was made managing director of the direct unit and in 1991 he was made president.
