New campaigns: Campaign with a Sting

Sting premixed cocktails make their tv debut over the summer in a 15-second commercial from Campaign House Worldwide of Toronto.

The product dominates the visual portion of the commercial, from the label, to being poured into a glass over ice-cubes (one reported to resemble Elvis), and back to the bottle.

The male voiceover says – ‘Sting, pick up something different. Cool-tasting cocktails, ready to drink. Icy cold to knock down thirst,’ while a female voice rhymes off the flavors available.

The spot ends with the super and voiceover of the theme-line which is different for the two provinces.

In Ontario, the line is ‘Sting. We mix, you party,’ while in b.c., it is, ‘We mix, you mingle.’

Sting coolers are made by The Mark Anthony Group, a Vancouver-based wine and beer distributor, which also produces Okanagan Cider.

There are five Sting flavors ranging in alcohol content from 6% to 6.9%: Long Island Iced Tea, Vodka Stinger, Tequila Lime Margarita, and new flavors, Alabama Slammer and Vodka Pink Lemonade.

The product, available in Ontario and b.c. only, was introduced via a radio campaign in Ontario last summer although it has been available in b.c. for three years.

Credits at Campaign House go to Paul Grundy, associate creative director, for art direction; Richard Truman, chief executive officer and director of creative services, writer; and Annie Crawford, producer.
