Riddoch to fill top creative spot at Bates Canada

Brad Riddoch takes over as creative director of Bates Canada in Toronto next month.

Copywriter Riddoch has been acting creative director at MacLaren:Lintas since Bill Durnan left earlier this year.

Peter Lanyon, most recently creative director at Lanyon Phillips Brink in Vancouver, takes over as president of MacLaren:Lintas Aug. 1.

Riddoch has been with MacLaren:Lintas for two and a half years.

He was with J. Walter Thompson for two and a half years before that and spent 18 months with Creative Interchange after his first seven-year stint with jwt.

Riddoch replaces Bill Maynard, who joined Bates in January 1992 as executive creative director and will consult with Bates New York and Canada on a project basis.

Maynard’s contract expired earlier this year but remained with the firm until a replacement was found and will continue to consult with Bates New York and Canada on a project basis.

Maynard’s long list of senior responsibilities at ad agencies includes four years as vice-chairman director of creative services, Ted Bates Worldwide, and executive vice-president, managing director, creative services of Ted Bates New York.
