Royal Bank tests two informercials

Royal Bank is testing infomercials in b.c. and Quebec.

A 15-minute infomercial for Royal Bank mortgages began a four-week run earlier this month on Roger’s Value Plus Channel in Vancouver.

In Quebec, the bank is pushing car loans with a 19-minute vehicle on Videotron’s cable network.

Both are still-motion and airing 12 to 18 times per day during primetime.

Viewers are invited to respond to a 1-800 number operating 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Peter Case, Royal Bank vice-president of advertising, says the two featured products were chosen for each area because the car loan market in Quebec is hot at this time of the year, while the mortgage market in b.c. has been fairly active.

Relationship Marketing Group, a division of MacLaren: Lintas, is behind the b.c. infomercial.
