IBM Canada is launching a brand of personal computers for the consumer market.

The new seven-model line, dubbed Aptiva, begins shipping today and will eventually replace the PS/1 brand, which was introduced in 1990.

Each of the models will contain a multimedia package that includes stereo sound and a cd-rom player.

According to news reports, ibm is also planning to replace its PS/2 and ValuePoint lines with a reconfigured business pc. PA
