Sanyo Canada announced several promotions in its marketing ranks Oct. 1.

Satoru Hotta, previously vice-president of sales and marketing, was promoted to senior vice-president of sales and marketing.

Gary Connell, formerly director of marketing, was named vice-president of communications products, including facsimile machines and cordless phones.

And David Dalrymble, formerly promotions manager, added advertising management to his responsibilities.

- Appliance manufacturer Inglis has a new head of brand marketing.

Karim Lalani was promoted to the post Oct. 1 from his previous position as director of trade marketing.

Lalani replaces Greg Maloney, who has been named director of product integration.

In his new role, Maloney will work closely with Whirlpool, Inglis’ u.s. parent, to find ways to exploit Whirlpool’s technologies and marketing strategies in the Canadian market.

- Bridgestone/Firestone Canada has a new head of marketing.

On Oct. 25, the Mississauga, Ont. company appointed Donald James to the newly created post of senior vice-president, sales and marketing.

The top marketing spot opened up Oct. 14, when Ron Park, formerly director of marketing, left for a post with Valeo Cooling Systems of Stratford, Ont.

James was previously president of Bridgestone/Firestone’s Western Canada operations, and president of Bridgestone/Firestone subsidary James Tire Centres. (James founded James Tire Centres in 1972 and joined Bridgestone/ Firestone when it acquired his business in 1989.)

Dale Pyle has been appointed general manager of Mailing List Systems’ Toronto office.

Pyle was the former manager of international sales and business development for Canada Post.

- WHERE Magazines has appointed Mary-Lynn Durrant as director of marketing and communications.

Durrant has worked in major Canadian and international ad agencies and as executive creative director for two of Canadian political parties.
