Agfa Graphics Systems of Etobicoke, Ont., a division of Miles Canada, has appointed Jean-Michel Pluvinage to the newly created position of national marketing manager.

Pluvinage joined Agfa in 1989 as a sales representative in France for Agfa-Compugraphic.

In 1993, he was transferred to the marketing department of Agfa’s Electronic Prepress Systems in Wilmington, Mass.

- The Oshawa Group has named Denis Bachand vice-president of marketing for its Ontario wholesale division, Oshawa Foods.

Bachand’s previous marketing experience includes stints as marketing director for Aikenhead’s Home Improvement Warehouse and Swiss Chalet.

He replaces Jay Peters, who earlier this year was named president of Horizon International, a newly formed division responsible for Oshawa Group’s private label business across the country.

- Responding to regulatory changes in the telephone industry, Bell Canada is creating separate divisions for local and long-distance services and shuffling management positions.

As part of the changes, Ian McElroy, formerly president and chief executive officer of BCE Mobile Communications, has been named president and ceo of Bell Competitive Services, and on Jan. 1 he becomes chairman of Bell Sygma and chairman of WorldLinx Telecommunications.

Replacing McElroy as head of BCE Mobile is Robert Ferchat, most recently chairman and ceo of TMI Communications.

Ferchat also becomes chairman and ceo of Bell Mobility Cellular.

The new Bell Competitive Services will be responsible for long-distance services, sales to large customers, operator services and telemarketing.

- Digital Equipment has tapped its Canadian company to fill a senior marketing post in the u.s., effective Jan. 1.

Ronald Larkin, president and chief executive officer of Digital Equipment of Canada, has been named vice-president, marketing and business operations for Digital’s accounts business unit in Maynard, Mass.

In his new role, Larkin will provide worldwide leadership for the business, which focusses on Digital’s largest customers.

Larkin has held his current post at Digital since Jan. 1, 1994.

He joined Digital Canada in 1987 as vice-president of marketing, later becoming managing director and ceo of the u.s.-based company’s business in the South Pacific.

Before joining Digital, he spent 18 years at ibm.
