Sixteen months after launching Our Compliments in Ontario, The Oshawa Group has introduced its premium quality line of store products in all markets across the country, a senior company executive says.

Tim Carter, vice-president of public affairs for Oshawa Foods, Mississauga, Ont.-based Oshawa Group’s Ontario wholesale distribution division, says Our Compliments products are now available in 1,800 grocery stores nationwide.

This includes 375 outlets in Quebec, where Our Compliments was introduced earlier this month.

‘As a company, we are particularly excited by this because it means Our Compliments is the first premium quality private label brand in North America to go national,’ Carter says.

Oshawa Group distributes products to a variety of grocery store banners, among them iga and Bonichoix in Quebec, and iga, Food City, Dutch Boy and Price Chopper in the rest of Canada.

It also has 146 drugstores under the Pharma Plus Drugmart banner.

There are 25 products sold under the Our Compliments brand.

Many are available in a range of flavors and size formats, resulting in a total of 100 stockkeeping units (skus), Carter says.

Last week, Oshawa Group began shipping several new products in Ontario, with distribution to other markets slated to follow shortly.

The new products include coffee, tea, eggnog, dipping sauces and frozen finger foods.

Newspaper inserts supporting the launch appeared last week in editions of The Toronto Star and The Toronto Sun.

Oshawa Group’s ad agency is Robins Sharpe Associates of Toronto.

Carter says Our Compliments has succeeded beyond the company’s highest expectations, adding ‘most of the products are top sellers in their segments and all are among the top three brands.’
