Palmer Jarvis Communications emerged as the dominant creative shop in British Columbia this year, winning 11 out of 25 top Lotus Awards for advertising presented recently in Vancouver.

pj won top prizes in a variety of categories, including best advertising campaign, best tv campaign and best public service commercial.

The agency’s creative department, led by creative director Chris Staples, also took awards in radio, direct mail, transit, magazines and newspapers.

Next was BBDO Vancouver with five first place awards. bbdo won in transit, outdoor and newspaper.

Cossette Communication-Marketing won three first place Lotus prizes for tv and magazine campaigns and a magazine single.

Lanyon Phillips Brink took two awards, both in radio.

A single Lotus award went to Moreland and Associates for best radio commercial.

Production companies making it to the podium were KOKO Productions for a newspaper campaign; Circle Productions for a tv commercial; and Griffiths Gibson and Ramsay Productions for a radio campaign.

Awards were also presented in print collateral and original music/sound design categories.

The 1994 Lotus Awards, the fifth annual celebration of creative excellence in b.c., were presented at a gala awards ceremony and dinner at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver.
