Ilford Anitec Canada has launched a fast photograph copying machine to help film developing minilabs differentiate themselves in a saturated market by being able to produce nearly identical copies of photographs, almost instantly.

Range of capabilities

The Ilford Omni Printer Centre has a range of reproduction capabilities not usually available through minilabs, and, as well as being easy to operate, it does not require plumbing or much space.

In about three minutes, the combination camera, print processor and color document copier can make color prints and overhead transparencies (ohps) from a variety of originals, including prints, slides, black-and-white negatives and documents.

Ilford’s research shows 50% of minilab owners would be interested in this type of multifunctional product.

No big investment

‘It expands on the main lab’s services without the big investment of adding multiple pieces of equipment,’ says Joseph Muscat, Ilford’s national marketing manager, photo systems.

The Omni costs about $50,000, and will eventually be advertised in trade magazines, without the help of an agency. AB
