Labatt Breweries of Canada won the right to use the name Winchester Gold for a new brew last month in the Federal Court of Appeal.
Molson Breweries had tried to stop the use of the name because it said it was too close to its Molson Golden brand.
Paul Smith, Labatt director of public relations and communications, says the Winchester Gold project was active about three years ago, but has been sitting on the shelf since the court action began as a result of Labatt’s trademark application.
Smith would not reveal whether the Winchester Gold project would be revived. PS
