Veteran adman Terry O’Malley has thrown his support behind the planned Advertising Museum of Canada as a member of its board of directors.

O’Malley, copywriter and chairman of Vickers & Benson Advertising, of Toronto, will sit on the board of directors of the museum.

As well, V&B has also sponsored the first seat in the museum’s proposed 500-seat auditorium with a $1,000 donation.

In addition to the auditorium, the eight-floor museum, with a proposed site in downtown Toronto beside the Elgin and Winter Garden theatres, will have a gallery, a library and archive, boardrooms and seminar rooms, cafeteria, gift shop and interactive areas all devoted to Canada’s advertising heritage.

The museum, brainchild of its president, Kevin Durkee, is expected to open its doors in downtown Toronto in 1997.
