‘Have You Had Your Break Today’ debuts

McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada has announced another in a long line of straightforward ‘treat yourself’ type advertising themes.

‘Have You Had Your Break Today?’ will succeed the four-year-old ‘What You Want is What You Get’ theme in advertising that debuted across North America earlier this month.

This is the 12th theme in the restaurant chain’s 35-year history of using advertising jingles.

The first was ‘Look for the Golden Arches,’ which debuted in 1960.

‘You Deserve a Break Today’ has been used twice, in 1970 and 1980.

McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada says the new theme, created by Leo Burnett, in the u.s., is in the form of a question because research shows consumers appreciate being asked for their business.

Cossette Communication-Marketing, of Toronto, will adapt the campaign for Canadian use.

There are more than 800 McDonald’s restaurants in Canada.
