- MCA Concerts Canada has named Debra Macko as director of marketing, West Coast operations, and Pierre Tremblay as director, West Coast operations.

- Doug Dragasevitch has been named marketing manager for Toronto-based software company Delrina Technology.

Dragasevitch was most recently director of marketing for SEB Canada, marketer of Tefal brand housewares.

- The new director of marketing for Thrifty Car Rental is Robert Swanborough.

Swanborough was formerly the director of local marketing. He will manage all advertising, public relations and promotional activity in Canada.

There have been three promotions in the account services group at Palmer Jarvis Group in Vancouver.

Mike Cvitkovich, Roger Ferguson and Sue Anne Linde have all been promoted to account director from account supervisors.

- Ron Moore, founding partner and vice-president/group creative director of The Mariposa Communications Group, has resigned from the company.

Moore sold his shares in the company to Greg Cochrane, chairman and chief executive officer, and President Paul Luksha.

- New at Vickers & Benson Advertising in Toronto are art director Robert Kingston and copywriter Heather Vincent, and Wells Davis, account supervisor on the Ford Motor Co. of Canada account.

Kingston comes to v&b from Southside Digital Communications, the agency’s in-house creative studio; Vincent came from United Business Communications.

Davis joins v&b from Maclaren Lintas, where he worked on the General Motors of Canada account.

Other new faces at v&b are Lori Zinger, account co-ordinator for clients the Ontario Jockey Club, Canstar, Telemedia and Royal Doulton, and John Hughson, account supervisor for client 3M Canada.

- Ian Roberts has joined Mertens Marketing Communications as account director, responsible for clients such as Scotiabank, Manulife and Lufthansa.

Roberts is also in charge of new business development. He was last with Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising.

- After the appointment of Raj Marwah, new chairman and ceo at dmb&b in Toronto, the agency has hired a number of staff.

They include: Jon Slater, senior art director; Graham Farrell, account director; Jim Borwick, writer; Lily Quan, junior writer; Catherine Parenteau, account executive; and Joanne Beauchemin, account executive.

- Norm Melamed has joined Young & Rubicam as vice-president, group director on the Ford Motor Co. of Canada business. Melamed comes from bbdo.

- Rene Guimond has joined bcp in Montreal as vice-president and general manager. Guimond was most recently partner, president and general manager of Promo-Marketing Canada.

Also at bcp, Peter Denes, executive vice-president, has added the role of strategic planning director for the bcp group to his current responsibilities for client services.

- Gary Hendrick, a 26-year industry veteran, has formed Hendrick & Associates Marketing Services in Calgary, after leaving his post as vice-president advertising and promotion at Parallel Strategies.

Guy Terroux has joined Montreal-based cable tv network Videotron as marketing manager.

Terroux comes from five years as director of marketing for Le Groupe Ro-Na Dismat, a Montreal-based chain with more than 500 hardware and building materials stores.
