International development organization Foster Parents Plan has recently hired John Jefkins as director of marketing and communications. He is responsible for overseeing the development and management of the Toronto-based group’s marketing, publications and communications campaigns. Jefkins most recently serviced Cogeco Cable Solutions through his own company.

Phil Atrill has recently joined Market Probe as a senior VP at the group’s Toronto facility. His role will include business development activities in North America and contributions to corporate strategy and corporate development. Atrill was president of Walker Information Canada for the past five years.


BBDO OMD has promoted Joanna Angeles to the position of media supervisor at its Toronto office. Angeles has spent the past year managing the Dell and Best Western businesses, and for six months she has also looked after the Gillette business.

A new group media director has also joined BBDO OMD. Tap Chauhan has joined the company from London, England, where he spent eight years working at Lowe Howard-Spink, Mediacom and Zenith.

Gordon Grote has been appointed president of response marketing services at Toronto-based Moore. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, with previous positions including VP and general manager for Moore’s Integrated Business Solutions Group (IBSG).

Also at Moore, Mark Peterson is taking on the position of president of the corporation’s Business Communication Solutions. Peterson was previously senior VP for IBSG’s business communication services group, with responsibilities for North American operations.

Martha Jamieson has been named VP of PR at Palmer Jarvis DDB Edmonton. Jamieson has been with the firm for six years and has 18 years of PR experience.

Ottawa-based Thornley Fallis Communications has taken on former technology journalist, Stuart McCarthy, as VP of technology communications. McCarthy comes from Thermal Energy International where he led communications and marketing activities.

Larisa Roce and Patricia Roughley have been promoted to account supervisors at MacLaren McCann. Both have been with the Toronto-based agency for just over a year, working on the Rogers AT&T wireless account.

Co-founder of Blouin Coulombe Dube, Nicolas Dube has been recruited as creative VP at Montreal-based PALM Publicite Marketing. Dube brings with him more than 20 years of experience in creative advertising. He has worked with Budweiser, Volkswagen and Coke.

A new director of finance/administration has joined TBWA/Chiat/Day. Rob Elliott will oversee the financial operations for the Toronto-based agency, for Bryant, Fulton & Shee (BFS) based in Vancouver, and the group’s digital business solutions firm, Communicopia, also in Toronto. Elliott spent most of his career with Arthur Andersen, and most recently directed the finances of a privately owned telecommunications company.

Yolanda Beasley has joined Media Vest Worldwide in Toronto as a planner. Beasley began her career with MediaCom/TMB, London, England, and most recently ran her own online media company.


Rogers Media has promoted Madeline Ziniak to the position of VP and station manager of multilingual TV for Eastern Canada. She will retain responsibility as executive producer of CFMT-TV’s ethnic productions.

The Canadian Press (CP) has appointed Dwayne Desaulniers as director of business development. He will be responsible for identifying all new global commercial opportunities for CP. Desaulniers joins from Rogers iMedia where he held the post of general manager of development projects.

Toronto-based ETC Communications has appointed Kevin Morrison as account executive, Tiffaney Innes as junior account executive, and Mariann Utrosa as administrative assistant. After two years with the firm, Tanya Bruckmueller has been promoted to account manager and will be responsible for a team of three.
