Alterna Technologies Group in Calgary has appointed Michael Hines to the newly created position of VP marketing. Hines joins the e-finance solutions provider from U.S.-based ClientLogic.
Tremblant, a resort in Mont-Tremblant, Que., has appointed Patrick St-Arnaud as VP of sales and marketing. St-Arnaud has previously worked as national sales manager for Universal Studios and regional manager for the Walt Disney Company in Toronto.
Hotel chain Days Inns has added Sharon Shore to the staff at its Canadian corporate office in Toronto. Shore takes the post of regional sales manager for central Canada.

President of Montreal-based Marketel, Jacques Duval, has decided that five creative directors are better than one. Newly appointed co-directors are Alain Bourgeois, Gilles DuSablon, Jennifer Goddard, Marie-Christine Levesque and Andrew Morgan.
Toronto-based Lowe RMP has promoted Martin Strazovec from associate creative director to VP managing director. Three other managers have been promoted to VP: director of client services, Heather McDonald Cavanagh; creative director, Steven Bochenek and director of operations, Jeanette Lee Fritzler.
Dana Kerr has been promoted to VP, client services director at Grey Direct Canada in Toronto. She joined Grey in February as group account director on the E*Trade account. Also at Grey Direct, Cindy Story joins the Canadian Tire Acceptance team as account supervisor. Story previously worked in retail marketing at Vancouver City Savings Credit Union.
The Event Group has added a new partner to its Calgary-based event marketing and design operation. Leslie Gallacher joins the existing team of three managers to help them cope with an increase in business. Prior to joining The Event Group, Gallacher founded Power Play Consulting.
MT&L Advertising and Public Affairs in Halifax has appointed Shawn King as art director. He joins from the Bristol Group where he spent seven years working on accounts such as Atlantic Lottery, Aliant and Atlantic Superstore.
MEDIA:
John Riley has been named president of Montreal-based Astral Media’s Astral Television Networks (ATN) group. Riley, who led Astral Media’s Teletoon English and French networks since their inception, has been associated with the company for 13 years. In his new role he will be responsible for ATN’s five pay and pay-per-view services.
Anston Mendes has joined WHERE Toronto Magazine as marketing manager. Mendes has marketing and PR experience in a wide range of sectors, most recently working as marketing manager for Toronto’s Queen’s Quay Terminal.
