As part of a major structural change to its marketing and communications divisions, McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada has appointed Rem Langan to the newly created position of VP, communications and brand innovation. Langan whose new responsibilities include internal and external communications and brand image, has more than 20 years of marketing and communications experience at McDonald’s in Canada and Europe.

Vancouver City Savings Credit Union has hired Kari Grist as VP of marketing. She brings 17 years of experience from Canadian Airlines International in Calgary.

Vincor International in Mississauga, Ont. has appointed Jay Wright to the new position of president of the Canadian wine division. He takes responsibility for operations, sales and marketing in Canada for Vincor’s portfolio of super-premium, premium and popular-priced wines. He brings 20 years of experience from the packaged goods, food and beverage industries in Canada and the U.S.

Agencies:

Young & Rubicam (Y&R) has appointed Chris Jordan as president and CEO of Y&R Canada. John Farquhar, who formerly held the position, becomes president of Y&R Toronto and chief creative officer of Y&R Canada. Jordan most recently held the position of chief marketing and sales officer at the CBC.

Target Marketing & Communications in St. John’s, Newfoundland, has hired James Jung as a senior art director. His client list includes Air Canada Tango, Air Canada Regional and Irving Oil. Jung’s 12 years of experience includes work for Levi’s, Evian and SC Johnson. Target has also added Paula Rose to its team as director of operations. She brings 25 years of experience from agencies in Montreal and Toronto including ICA and Ogilvy & Mather.

Interactive marketing agency, RareMethod, has made three additions to the marketing and sales team of its MethodMail business unit. Joining are Scott Martin as VP of market development, Stefan Eyram as VP of business development for Canada, and Don Samoil as VP of business development for Eastern U.S. The three will be based at RareMethod’s Calgary, Toronto and New York offices, respectively.

Belladonna Communications in Toronto has promoted Tamara Costa from director to VP, brand and marketing counsel. She will continue to manage strategic client initiatives.

Media:

Women’s integrated media brand, Chatelaine, has made some additions to its Toronto-based marketing team. Marnie McCann is added as marketing manager, Rhonda Messieh joins as Web marketing manager and Edith Halupka is hired as marketing co-ordinator. The new team will be responsible for all integrated marketing including brand building, strategic and online marketing opportunities.

Contract publisher, Dovetail Communications in Richmond Hill, Ont. has promoted Karen Lorimer to VP of sales and marketing. In her new role she continues to lead the sales and marketing efforts of the Dovetail team and the publications it represents.

Public Relations:

The Courtney Group in Toronto has hired Sharon Rainey as a new partner. She brings more than 15 years of international agency, corporate and not-for-profit PR experience, most recently working as VP of Fleishman-Hillard Canada.
