How much is a premium worth? It depends on demand. Some are worth 32 cents when they’re made and 32 cents when they’re thrown out 10 years later. Others are eventually valued at hundreds of dollars.
Ironically enough, eBay, the world’s new high-tech trading ground for trinkets and trash, has actually had a net effect of lowering the prices people are willing to pay for an Expos Bobble-Head or vintage Burger King train. Why? Simply because such easy access to a worldwide depository of ‘hard-to-find’ items had made such items, well, less hard to find.
All the same, die-hard kitsch collectors are still willing to pay big bucks for the right item. Here’s what the five most expensive premiums were being offered for on eBay.ca as of late July, complete with the item’s description, in the seller’s own words.
