Gerri Sinclair has been named new general manager of MSN.CA. Sinclair, who was formerly president of the B.C. Premier's technology council, will be responsible for strategic planning, business development and marketing of MSN.CA.

Kenneth J. Carrier has been named director food service marketing with Florenceville, N.B.-based McCain Foods (Canada). Carrier joined McCain in 1989 and was most recently group product manager.

Chun-Ling Woon has been appointed VP of marketing for ConceptWave Software, of Toronto. Woon will assume a leadership role in defining the OrderCare TM product set.

Agencies

Benjamin Vendramin has been appointed EVP/CD for Toronto-based Goodgoll Curtis. Vendramin, who was previously co-CD for TBWAChiatDay, replaces Brian Hickling, who has left the agency.

Watt International, of Toronto, has announced the promotion of Patrick Rodmell to the position of managing director, Watt IDG, the corporate and environmental design division of Watt International. Rodmell was previously VP, Watt International, leading marketing, business development and brand strategy efforts. He joined the global brand consultancy in 1993.

Jim Diorio has joined Manifest Communications of Toronto as CD. Diorio was previously senior writer with Roche Macaulay & Partners Advertising.

Peter Burke has joined Toronto’s Bates Canada as VP, media director, where he will manage the agency’s media department. Burke was previously managing director at Initiative Media.

Marni Hardin has been named director of sponsorship sales for MASEV Communications, of Vancouver. Hardin was previously regional sales manager, Western Canada, for 24/7 Media and also spent seven years in the Asian market developing international sporting and music event sponsorship programs.

Interactive marketing agency Ninedots has appointed three new staffers. Andrew Chow has been named director, technology; Kathy Kohn is director, strategy; and Jeff Sangster joins as manager, engineering.

Janis Lindenbergs has joined Toronto’s Downtown Partners DDB as account director, responsible for managing the Budweiser account for Anheuser-Busch in the U.S. and for Labatt Breweries in Canada. Lindenbergs was previously an account supervisor with Leo Burnett in Toronto and was a founding principal of Metro Leo Burnett in Latvia.

Toronto’s Aerial Communications Group announces three new appointments. Jaye Kornblum-Rea, recently appointed VP, joined Aerial Communications Group as a senior consultant in January 2001. Jefferson Darrell has joined Aerial as an account manager. And Anne Yourt was recently promoted from account co-ordinator to account executive.

Kathleen Knoorshed has joined Starcom Worldwide, Canada in Toronto as investment manager. Knoorshed was previously media supervisor with Mediaedge.

Media

Robert Hurst has been appointed president, CTV News. Hurst has been with CTV News for 28 years and will be responsible for the network’s news operations and information programming. He will also have shared responsibility for local news at all CTV stations. Meanwhile, Laura Rubin joins CTV’s advertising & promotion department as media strategist. Rubin was most recently media manager for Retail Communications Group.

David Dusang has been named senior national sales representative for Montreal-based Digital Advertising Network (DAN). Dusang will cover national accounts out of Toronto.

The Advertising Agency Association of British Columbia (AAABC) has appointed the following board of directors for 2002/2003: president Stuart Ince of i2i Advertising & Marketing; secretary Hugh Ruthven of Palmer Jarvis DDB; treasurer Steve Kennedy of Grey Worldwide (Vancouver); past president Andrea Southcott of Bryant Fulton & Shee Advertising; Joan Fedoruk of Big House Communications; David Martin of Lanyon Phillips Communications and John Hall of Cossette Communications Group.
