McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada has named Roy Ellis SVP of customer experience. He will oversee business strategies dedicated to improving customer experience. Previously, Ellis was SVP of human resources for McDonald’s U.S.

Sony of Canada has appointed Douglas D. Wilson as president and COO at its headquarters in Toronto. His main responsibility will be to oversee Sony Canada’s performance in the Canadian marketplace. Prior to this appointment he served Sony as president of Sony Logistics America.

Rolf B. Richter has been appointed president of ConAgra Foods Canada in Toronto. His focus will be on increasing market share of ConAgra brands across Canada. Most recently he was president, Vlasic Europe, at Vlasic Foods International.

Montreal-based online recruitment site has named Nathalie Marceau VP of marketing. She will manage the strategic direction and marketing of the brand and the Canadian customer services group. Previously, she was director of product marketing at Microcell Solutions (Fido).

Sobeys has promoted Duncan Reith to chief merchandising officer. Also at parent company A&P, Frank Dunn becomes VP, merchandising at Food Basics.

The Oakville, Ont.-based Royal Canadian Golf Association has named Jeffrey Murphy manager, sponsorship. Murphy has several years of experience in sales and promotional marketing, particularly in the horticulture and beer industries.

P.S. Venkataramanan has been named VP, marketing and sales at Ispat Sidbec. He was most recently VP, sales and marketing at Ispat Mexicana. Steel producer Ispat Sidbec is based in Quebec.


R. P. Kumar has been promoted to the position of VP, director of competitive strategy at FCB Worldwide. He was previously VP, Chess director at FCB Toronto. (Chess is a tool for deep competitive analysis.) Kumar will operate out of Toronto as well as FCB’s U.S. offices.

Arnold Worldwide Toronto has promoted three people. Deni Baschiera becomes SVP/MD for Arnold Brand Response. Rob Grumbach is the new SVP/MD for Arnold Brand Promotions and Michael Shostak has been named EVP/MD for Arnold Interactive.


Luc Desjardins has been promoted to CEO at Transcontinental in Montreal. Desjardins has been president and COO since May 2000. Rémi Marcoux, the founder of Transcontinental, becomes the executive chairman of the board and retains his controlling interest in the corporation.

Serge Gouin has been promoted to president and CEO of Quebecor Media. Meanwhile Pierre Karl Peladeau has been named president and CEO of sister company Quebecor World.
