Hires that make you go hmmm…

Tracey Mazza, formerly managing the skincare division of Schwarzkopf & Henkel’s Fa brand where she spent three years, has accepted a brand manager post at Jamieson Laboratories in Toronto. She says that Jamieson is currently the category leader in most of its SKUs. In the new year, Mazza will work on the brand’s title sponsorship of a new grassroots soccer program on behalf of its Arthur- and Caillou- branded vitamins (see page 8).

Rogers Sportsnet has promoted Anne Liota to the newly created post of director, marketing solutions, where she will continue to build the Sportsnet brand by working with clients on customized campaigns as well as Sportsnet programs. A current campaign, she says, is the giveaway of a vehicle from Chevy BC. Liota joined the sports network five years ago. Previously she was customer marketing manager at CTV.

FCB is welcoming David Williams back to the Toronto-based agency. It’s part of a move to put a new focus on the agency’s strategic capability, says president John Boniface. Williams joined BBDO in 2004. While there, he worked for some of the agency’s key clients including FedEx and Frito Lay. On the creative side, Mark Fitzgerald has joined as group CD and Chris Taciuk as associate CD. Previously, Taciuk was associate CD at john st., while Fitzgerald has worked at Downtown Partners, Bates, MacLaren and Leo.

‘It’s been a very busy fourth quarter,’ says Downtown Partners president Tony Altilia to explain a slew of new hires at the Toronto-based shop. Winning some Sony work, new Gatorade creative and possibly Super Bowl-bound creative for Anheuser Busch has been keeping the agency busy. One creative team (Mark Francolini and Nelson Quintal who worked at GJP on the Cincinnati Bell and XM Satellite Radio accounts) has been hired on. Altilia says they’re also looking to add another couple of creatives. On the account side, Kimberly Raycroft, previously an assistant brand manager at Molson Coors Brewing Company, joins as account supervisor on the Budweiser and Prime Restaurants accounts. Sheng Sinn has also been added as an account supervisor. He was previously senior account executive at DDB Canada’s Toronto office.
