Which campaign contributed most to netting you top honours in your field

and why?

Science World. So many campaigns search in vain for something to say – usually making do with a mildly interesting point of difference or a pseudo benefit. With Science World, we had the entire planet to choose from.

Are most of your ideas the result of inspiration or perspiration?

Inspiration. I wouldn’t hire my lazy ass to mow my lawn. Sometimes I get lucky and things just pop into my head (praise be to Zeus) – usually right away or not at all.

To get all New Age about it, somehow I sort of see and feel words. When I write, I roll them around in my head to get a sense of how they’ll play out. For example, thanks to this magical ability, I know this last paragraph makes no sense at all.

If you were a betting man, what would you say would be the next hottest trend in the industry?

Narrower lapels. Plus more and more people predicting the death of the 30-second spot as they lounge on leather couches making 30-second spots. Computers will also be huge.

What was your professional highlight over 2005?

Knowing I peaked in 2005. Now it’s time to coast. Woo-hoo!
