Grip Limited takes Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC in hand

The independently-owned agency has been appointed Yum! Canada's newest creative and strategic AOR.

Grip Limited has got a hold of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. The Toronto-based agency won out against 17 other agencies during a three-step review process, ultimately beating out John St., Ogilvy and Juniper Park in the final stage to become Yum! Canada’s new creative and strategic partner.

The agency takes the creative reins of the $1.1 billion in sales business – which was handed to Yum! by Vaughan, ON-based operator Priszm in January – and boasts 1,278 KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants – from Y&R, whose relationship with the three brands spanned nine years.

‘We were looking for a communications partner who not only shared an enthusiasm and passion for our great brands, but could help take us to the next level using an integrated approach,’ said Dan Howe, Yum! Canada’s chief marketing officer, in a release. ‘We’ve found this in Grip as they demonstrated a true understanding of the KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut brands and our customers.’

In its new role as Yum!’s AOR, Grip is set to start work right away on all creative mass communications for the three brands.

‘Grip is very focused on measurable results and ultimately, driving demand for our clients, and Yum is committed to taking the brands and the business to new heights,’ said Harvey Carroll, president of Grip Limited. ‘We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to play a role in making this happen.’
