BC Hydro renews deal with DDB

The utilities provider has signed a three-year deal to keep DDB on as its AOR, after a four-month review.

BC Hydro will keep the electricity flowing for three more years in its relationship with the Vancouver office of DDB.

The agency announced today that it has signed a three-year contact with the utility as AOR for its BC Hydro and Power Smart brands. The agency will continue to handle advertising and digital communications, while continuing to work with OMD Vancouver on a sub-contract basis for media planning and buying. The contract was signed after a four-month agency review.

The estimated annual spend for the account is $8 to $10 million a year.

“We are pleased to be able to continue our partnership with DDB,” Cynthia Dyson, director of marketing and brand strategy for BC Hydro, said in a release. “They have been instrumental to the growth of our brands in the marketplace. Their work has supported BC Hydro’s overall goal of building a conservation culture in B.C. through our Power Smart program.”

DDB has worked with BC Hydro as its AOR since 2006.
