Clinton to lead Edelman Canada

John Clinton has joined Edelman Canada as its new CEO. He will officially begin his tenure on Aug. 17.

The former president and CEO of Grey Worldwide Canada will be based in Toronto and report to Gail Becker, chair, Latin America and Canada, Edelman.

“John’s leadership and significant expertise in advertising and media provides him with a keen understanding of how to reach audiences via creative, content and digital, ensuring that the firm continues to grow and innovate in Canada on behalf of our clients,” said Richard Edelman, president, CEO, Edelman, in a release.

Most recently SVP, digital solutions and new media at Transcontinental Media, Clinton has also worked as chairman, Canada, and worldwide director for Kellogg’s in New York on behalf of J Walter Thomson. During his time at the agency he also held other senior positions including executive VP/GM, Chicago, and president/CEO, Canada, as well as serving on the JWT Worldwide Board of Directors. He was responsible for business development, client management and team management on accounts including Dell, Discovery Channel and Unilever.

“I think there’s a huge opportunity to evolve public engagement,” says Clinton. “I come out of the publishing world, I come out of the advertising world and being able to bring some of those skills to bear in this space I think will be a real opportunity for me and for us.”

Edelman Canada has offices in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver and represents brands including RIM, Labatt, Starbucks, Kraft, Unilever and Pfizer.
