Telus has launched an extension of its holiday “Everybody Merry” campaign with a contest connecting Facebook fans with in-store customers.
The contest, called “Merry under the Mistletoe” with creative from Taxi and media from Cossette, launched yesterday in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary.
Stephen Bennett, CD at Taxi, says they have put video cameras near phones in a Telus store in each city and turn on the live streaming at a specific time during the day. Facebook fans are then given a phone number which corresponds to a phone in-store. If a customer in-store picks up the phone, then both win a Samsung prize pack, which includes a Samsung Galaxy phone and Samsung Galaxy tablet.
“By taking our campaign to the social space we have the opportunity to have an intimate experience with fans and do it through a contest,” he says. “We can gift, surprise and reward them.”
The contest runs every day until Friday, going live today at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., says Bennett.
Telus’s holiday campaign also includes a TV spot, which launched nationally last week and runs until the end of the month.
Creative on the campaign brings back the fan favourite owl moving to the not-so-traditional holiday tune “I Like to Move it” and promotes the company’s zero-dollar smartphone offer, says Bennett.
