Bensimon Byrne has enhanced its digital expertise with the acquisition of Toronto-based digital agency OneMethod. The move will help Bensimon Byrne with the development of brand-building solutions by leveraging OneMethod’s experimental digital work and expanding the “creative incubator” portion of its business to foster greater experimentation and innovation.
Launched in 2001 by founder and CCO Amin Todai, now a partner in Bensimon Byrne and managing director of OneMethod as a result of the deal, OneMethod has built a profile via its work in social media, mobile, digital content and the web. The agency has developed online training tools and helped professional athletes manage their brands online, as well as launching more experimental executions like “La Carnita,” a restaurant, art gallery and social network that brought fine art together with tacos.
“Our goal is to have OneMethod focus on developing what’s next,” says Jack Bensimon, president, Bensimon Byrne. “For Bensimon Byrne to be a leader in marketing communications, we need to excel at delivering what’s now, while also experimenting with the application of new technologies. That’s the role OneMethod will play in the years ahead.”
“We’ve considered other partnerships over the years, but in Bensimon Byrne we found a meeting of minds and vision that makes a strong cultural and strategic fit,” added Todai in a release. “We have an ambition to attract more global work and do it differently than anything in market and we’re very proud to do it with Bensimon Byrne’s experience, leadership and resources at our fingertips.”
OneMethod currently boasts a client roster that includes blue chip clients like Nokia, Intuit, Sony, Quiznos, Biore and the Toronto Raptors, with most of its business coming from the U.S. and U.K. OneMethod joins Mighty Digital to become Bensimon’s second digitally oriented arm, but will remain in its current location and continue to operate independently.
“OneMethod with collaborate with Bensimon Byrne whenever it makes sense for clients,” says Bensimon. “As Bensimon Byrne, Mighty and Narrative Advocacy Media already function as a fully integrated agency, we expect clients will want to discuss earmarking some portion of their budgets to explore more experimental ideas. We think clients will value the ability to maintain strategic continuity for their brands by using a Bensimon Byrne company to pursue some of these exploratory projects. As well, we hope some of OneMethod’s clients will be interested in the broader capabilities and resources of Bensimon Byrne.”
