Revolve tees off with new hire

Former golf-pro Dave Williamson joins Halifax-based agency Revolve as a brand catalyst.

The golfer, originally from Halifax, has a business degree with a minor in marketing from Simon Fraser University. But it was his work ethic, attention to detail and understanding of brands that made him most desirable to work with, says Phil Otto, CEO and senior brand strategist, Revolve.

In his new role, Williamson will work to develop strategy and campaigns. As brand catalyst, his position is similar to a  traditional account coordinators, says Otto. His first clients will include Ace Hardware, supply-chain store Tim-Br Mart, and he will assist with the Source for Sports and Tirecraft accounts.

Williamson is the third professional sports player to join the Revolve team, says Otto, joining professional curler Mike Bardsley and professional wrestler Riley Otto (Phil’s son).

“Self discipline, competitive [natures], and determination are the common thread that comes with professional athletes,” says Otto.

Williamson made the decision to leave professional golf, and move into his chosen profession, says Otto, and approached Revolve for a job.

“He had offers with other agencies,” says Otto. “[But] he chose us.”
