Critical Mass names David Jones VP social

Digital marketing agency Critical Mass has named former Blast Radius VP strategy David Jones as VP of social practice. Jones, a 20-year veteran of the marketing industry, will work out of Critical Mass’ Toronto office starting today.

He’s previously held executive posts at Proximity Canada, Hill & Knowlton Canada and Fleishman-Hillard Canada, as well as serving as head of communications at Molson Canada and the Royal Canadian Golf Association.

“With the pedigree [Jones] has, not only from his public relations background but also being into the social media space from the very early days and having the breadth of experience across both agency and client side as well as a wide experience of brands, it’s a great fit to put him in a global position where he can work across our entire portfolio,” Matt Di Paola, tells strategy.

He said Critical looked at a number of candidates to fill the position as its clients seek to manage their social marketing on the global level. Jones will perform social media campaign work and begin initially with Critical clients Infiniti and HP. The digital agency has offices in Calgary, Toronto, Chicago, New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam and Costa Rica.
