McDonald’s Canada launches new meatless options

McDonald’s Canada is adding two new meatless options to its menu, the Mediterranean Veggie and Santa Fe Veggie Signature McWraps, following customer feedback asking for more veggie-based options.

Joel Yashinsky, CMO, McDonald’s Canada, says feedback came from customers through traditional channels as well as its “Our Food. Your Questions.” project.  The new offerings will be promoted through a month-long multi-platform campaign with creative from Cossette on the radio, TV and OOH and Tribal DDB on the digital work, with media by OMD.

“We think these products will appeal to a wide variety of customers, including existing, new and lapsed ones,” says Yashinky. “It gives customers a taste that they haven’t had at McDonald’s for awhile.”

Creative in the campaign focuses on the vegetables and fresh component of the new menu items, he adds. The last time McDonald’s Canada introduced a meatless main menu item was in 2002 when it launched a veggie burger, which didn’t end up remaining as a permanent offering for the QSR, according to a release from the company.
