This year’s Agency of the Year Awards is fast approaching, with the show only three weeks away on Nov. 5, and strategy is revealing some changes and additions to this year’s gala.
First, the show will be at a new location this year, the Sound Academy on Toronto’s waterfront. The new venue allows for a larger crowd for the show, which tends to sell out.
A new host has also been added. Previous host Fiona Stevenson, former marketer at P&G who now works at Hotspex, will be joined on stage by her partner in comedy and mommyhood Lyranda Martin-Evans, creative director at KBS+. The long-time friends, who have improv comedy experience, have been gaining buzz since their popular blog, Reasons Mommy Drinks, was recently turned into a book.
Finally, this year, the audience will be able to vote for their favourite agency video. Each year, the shortlisted creative agencies make short videos highlighting their creativity (and humour) that have become highly popular, some of which have even gone on to win awards of their own. This year, the audience will be able to vote for their favourite in real time at the show.
