Some may have wondered just what had gotten into Cheil Canada in August when its staff spent an afternoon chewing gum to create what it said was Canada’s largest art piece made of gum.
It turns out the shop was preparing to move from its downtown Toronto office on King Street East to a loft in the former Wrigley chewing gum factory on Carlaw Street.
“‘Chew by Numbers’ was a celebration of our growth, the move and our culture,” says Cheil Canada president Matt Cammaert.
The agency is moving to the new digs next month after adding two new clients, Horizons Exchange Traded Funds and the Ontario Association of Radiologists, in the past two months as well as soft-launching a full-service production solution, CYLNDR, to execute video, digital, print, and design production work in-house. Cammaert says the agency has added nine new staff as a result of its growth, in areas including digital and social strategy, community management and creative.
The “Chew by Numbers” event brought together more than 1,000 people from the industry and the local area to help chew more than 10,000 pieces of Wrigley’s gum. The artwork will be put up in the new office, Cammaert says.
