BBDO wins Casino Rama

Lady luck was with BBDO Toronto as it pitched for Casino Rama’s business. The agency won big, as it announced it will handle communications for the casino near Orillia, Ont., including TV, online and on-premise.

The shop won out following an RFP that was sent to 12 top agencies, according to John Drake, VP of marketing, Casino Rama. Drake says BBDO is tasked with helping Casino Rama, opened in 1996, to regain and increase market share, grow the casino’s digital footprint and to differentiate it from its competitors, which include Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort  and Casino Brantford.

Gerry Frascione, president and CEO of BBDO North America, says the agency wants to help grow awareness of the gaming facility’s other offerings, which include a full-service hotel with spa and health club, as well as eight restaurants. New work from the casino is expected this spring.

“During the pitch process, BBDO over-delivered against every aspect of our request, which left us with no alternative but to award them the business,” Drake said in a statement. “The creative work that was presented truly leverages our unique property.”

Though the brand wouldn’t comment on its previous AOR, since 1996 Marshall Fenn Communications was its sole agency. It is unclear if the account had changed hands prior to BBDO’s win.
