Chief communications officers (CCOs, for the purpose of this piece) are increasingly getting a seat at the C-suite table, according to a recent survey from Weber Shandwick and Spencer Stuart.
More than half (57%) of global CCOs directly report to the CEO or chair of their company, while 35% have increased the scope of their mandate beyond just communications (internal comms/PR/etc.) to include marketing oversight. According to the report, this is up from 26% in 2012.
